337 Days To Go!

Thank you for joining us in The Abaco Islands, a group of barrier islands in the northern Bahamas. This is our happy place and we would like to share some tips with you before your arrival. You are coming to an island paradise! The Abacos are such a special place with even more special people. In 2019, Hurricane Dorian made its presence felt in The Abacos and they had to completely rebuild. Treasure Cay is coming back, but it takes time. We want our guests to know that while we love it here more than anywhere, you are not coming to a full-service resort, and that is some of the beauty of it. You will be on island time, so sit back and relax!

How do we get here?

Although you'll feel like you’re a million miles from home — and from the crowds of most Bahamas Caribbean resort destinations — Abaco Island is easy to get to: It’s just a one-hour flight from Florida! Daily scheduled airline service to Marsh Harbour is available from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Charlotte and Atlanta, as well as from Nassau. American, Delta and United Airlines (code share with Silver Airways) all fly into Marsh Harbour (MHH). We find the most reliable option to be Bahamas Air, you can catch a flight out of Nassau (NAS) or West Palm Beach (PBI). When planning, keep in mind that there may be one flight a day...if something happens and you are delayed a day, we don't want you to miss out on the festivities (we recommend flying in on Thursday). We also recommend purchasing travel insurance, we buy it every time we visit Abaco. Charters are also available for consideration.

How do we get from the airport to Treasure Cay?

Once you land in Marsh Harbour, a taxi is the easiest way to get to The Bahama Beach Club in Treasure Cay. It is approximately a 45 minute drive. We like to schedule ours before arriving. The Bahama Beach Club has a great listing of reliable taxi drivers. What'sApp is a great way to reach the drivers. Please bring cash for your taxi rides. Here is the link to view some of the best taxi drivers: https://www.bahamabeachclub.com/guest-guide/local-transportation

Where do we stay?

The Bahama Beach Club offers a variety of luxurious decorator-appointed three or four bedroom beachfront rental condominiums, each one unique. Windows open to fresh island breezes, and private screened lanais face swaying coconut palms and the sparkling turquoise Bahamian sea. When you call to book your room, please let them know you are with the Luce/Haderlein party. If you are coming with friends or family, the condo set up is perfect to share an accommodation! Call toll free for your reservations. 800.284.0382 https://www.bahamabeachclub.com/caribbean-bahamas-resort

How do we get around in Treasure Cay?

While you can get to the convenient store and Cafe La Florence on foot, to get around Treasure Cay, we recommend renting a golf cart. All carts are reliable four-wheel models which safely accommodate four passengers. Remember, they drive on the left side of the road in The Bahamas! We like Cash's Carts: 242.801.4045 Email:cashscarts@yahoo.com

Where do we get groceries and provisions?

Dining in Treasure Cay is limited to the Bahama Beach Club, Florence's, Treasure Sands and Sunset Pizza. There is a local convenient store (small) and liquor store. If you would like to stock your condo with some items ahead of time, we suggest you contact Desirae Edgecombe with The Hub - Abaco to help you with your provisioning. 242.801.4045 Email: thehubabaco@yahoo.com Another option would be to ask your cab driver to stop at the grocery store (Maxwell's in Marsh Harbour or Kula's Mart at the entrance to Treasure Cay) to pick up a few items. We always buy bottled water for drinking. Cab drivers are happy to stop for you and will even come in and shop with you sometimes.

Can we go island hopping?

Yes! Boat rentals are a great option. If you would like to inquire about a boat with a captain, please reach out to Wilson Delva at Treasure Cay Boat Rentals: 242-426-3394. You can also take a taxi to catch the ferry out of Treasure Cay (over to Green Turtle Cay) or the ferry out of Marsh Harbour (to Elbow, Great Guana and Man-O-War Cays). Renting a golf cart for the day on these cays is a fun way to explore. https://www.bahamabeachclub.com/guest-guide/local-transportation

What should we bring from home?

Cash - The Bahamas has their own currency, but they accept US dollars which have the same value. Cab drivers only accept cash. Beach Towels - not every condo has them. Laundry pods - to wash the beach towels and swimwear. Bug Spray and sunscreen.
